Bandalha (Double sided embroidered flag, 2 x 1,30 mts, 2017 - 2023)
“Bandalha” is a flag made of fabric, similar to the Brazilian banner. It denounces the hijacking of the country’s official symbol by taking away its trademark colors and replacing its geometric shapes with the transcript of a conversation between two senators who conspired against the first female president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, elected with more than 54 million votes. “Bandalha” has two versions, one is yellow with the dialogue embroidered in green and the other is black, with the dialogues in yellow. They can be hung on a wall or hoisted in a performance, whilst two performers recite the dialogue. Meanwhile, the instrumental version of the Brazilian national anthem with the scratch sounds of an old vinyl record will be playing on the background.
